Melbourne two-piece duo, Halcyon Drive are all about layered choruses, fetching guitar riffs and pop hooks on their newly released debut EP Cruel Kids – and it comes to no surprise that Australian fans are relishing their efforts.
The garage pop twosome, have been together since 2012, but was originally a solo project of guitarist and vocalist Michael Oechsle. Once former band mate and drummer Max Pamieta, heard some of Michael’s tracks, he encouraged him to go out and play them live.
After making their collaboration official, Michael, admits their partnership has gone from strength-to-strength.
“I think the coolest thing about this project is that while Max and I both have appreciation for good pop music, we come at it from fairly different approaches, and we each have our own strong influences. So there’s always a healthy tension in the writing process.”
